We are a small and intimate retreat centre situated in the heart of

the Dordogne France, offering

Yoga, Meditation, Mindfulness, Retreats and Training Courses.

The Farmhouse &  Barns

The farmhouse and its barns have been lovingly renovated  into beautiful accommodation for 12 guests.  A stunning yoga studio, vaulted ceiling, underfloor heating and exposed stonework creates a calm and peaceful space. Gardens and sun terraces surround the house with a pool available to our guests from March-October.

The entire property is available to rent to organisations and retreat leaders who offer Yoga and holistic courses that  recognise human potential and promote personal development.

THE  ACCOMMODATION

We offer comfortable accommodation in a lovely

traditional farmhouse, situated in the heart of the Dordogne countryside between the villages of Tocane St Apre and Douchapt. From the house and gardens you will enjoy uninterrupted views across the valley and be able to enjoy relaxing walks through the surrounding forests and sunflower fields. 

 

Six twin guest bedrooms are available and all individually decorated. Three bedrooms are located in the main house and three in the barn, plus a small single room. There are six showers including a large wet room available to our guests, linen and towels are provided. 

There are several terraces located around the house for outdoor dining and relaxing. The Bell tents in the garden also offer shade from the afternoon sun and are a lovely place to chill. 

 

We offer a fully catered retreat with breakfast - lunch- dinner, plus complimentary teas and organic fresh fruit throughout the day.

 

WHO WE ARE

VALERIE (MEIGETSU)

Retreat Facilitator
Yoga & Meditation Teacher

Valerie trained as a dancer from a very early age working professionally before turning to teaching.  After completing a post graduate course in Psychotherapy at the University of West London she met her  teacher  Zen Master Daizan Roshi and went on to complete her Yoga teacher training with Zenways. Valerie developed her Mindfulness and Meditation practice with Rigpa London,  Zenways,  Thich Nhat Hanh,  Plum Village.  She went to further her training with the 'Heart of Living Yoga Foundation' in 2017 studying Therapeutic Gentle Yoga for healing with the Rev Padma Devi. Valerie is currently studying the healing practice of Reiki with Master Teacher Harshani Lori Curbishley-Brown.  

She received the precepts of the Bodhisattvas in the Zen lineage of Gyokuryuji and was given the Dharma name Zendo Meigetsu, Zenways Bright Moon.

  

JAMIE-EMMA

Dancer/Yoga Teacher

Jamie -Emma will be our guest teacher  and will offer Vinyasa Flow Yoga classes. Jamie has a very successful career as a dancer working and travelling all over the world. She recently traveled to India to complete her Yoga Training with the Sampoorna School of Yoga in Goa (for mind, body & soul). Jamie looks forward to returning to France several times a year to teach and take part in our retreats.

THREE DAYS OF ZEN YOGA/MEDITATION

We are happy to tailor the retreat to suit your individual needs however to reap the benefits of your stay with us we advise that you attend and join in all of the morning practises . 

Zen Yoga is essentially a holistic practice which trains you to completely immerse yourself in an activity emphasizing on physical alignment, the flow of energy in the body, and awareness. The physical exercises of Zen Yoga helps you open up, unblock the body, and prepare it for sitting meditation. It is a gentle process that is concerned with awareness of the body and its sensation.  Zen yoga is based on the meridian system. The 12 major meridians are energy pathways in which ki (energy) moves through out the body.  We believe that the body, mind or emotions, can be corrected by addressing the ki in the body and ensuring that it flows in harmony so that the body, mind and emotions are balanced.

YOGA & BALLET - FOR THE MATURE DANCER (£395 p/p- 5 nights 2020

 6th/7th -13th Sept 2020  A very special week for the more mature dancer.

(Please note that is a subsidised retreat for ex professional dancers)

Did you train as a dancer, attend classes as a child or did you ever dream of putting on some Ballet shoes and just having a go? A gentle daily Ballet class can improve your strength and flexibility as well as increase your range of movement. We are delighted to be able to offer you an opportunity to attend a 5 day course incorporating Ballet, Yoga and Relaxation classes.

Visiting Ballet mistress Sarah Daultry (Royal Ballet & Arts Educational London) will teach all morning ballet classes. 

All classes will take place in our beautiful studio with views across fields and forest.  The afternoons are made for leisure & relaxation, you are welcome to make use of our lovely pool, terraces and garden.  

Accommodation is available in shared twin rooms. Airport transfer from Bergerac Airport is 25 euros p/p or  we also offer a free pick up from St Astier Station. 

HEALING YOGA -  DEEP RELAXATION - MEDITATION - 2020   

£350.00 p/p - 3 nights/in a private twin room. 

(price reduced to £245.00 p/p if travelling with a friend and sharing a twin room)

Please note that we have had several requests this year for an extra night prior to the retreat staring and ending. We are able to offer this at a cost of £75.00 p/p per night B & B & Dinner. 

 

These weekends are an opportunity for you to focus and to immerse yourself in to a holistic lifestyle. We offer you a morning Healing Zen Yoga class followed by a Deep Relaxation/Yoga Nidra practice. This holistic practice promotes deep rest and relaxation, the stages of body scan and breath awareness alone can significantly calm the nervous system, leading to less stress/anxiety and improved overall health.

 

A delicious and wholesome vegetarian brunch is served at noon on the terrace or in our farmhouse kitchen.  

We will take a late morning walk through the surrounding forest & countryside which will allow us to introduce you to the practise of Mindful Walking and the benefits associated with this practice. The afternoons are free for you to visit the local area and enjoy everything that the beautiful Dordogne has to offer. In the evenings we offer you an optional  Restorative Yoga class or a candle lit Yoga Nidra practice to finish our day.

A five night retreat to allow yourself the time and space to fully immerse yourself into the healing practice of Zen Yoga. Morning and evening classes are offered in Yoga, Meditation, Yoga Nidra and Mindful walks through the forests that surround our home and studio.   Candle lit evening Relaxation Classes/Restorative Yoga  are also offered.  

 

(Ayurvedic Massage & Reiki  are available by appointment at an extra cost, please book in advance and pay the practitioner directly).

 

All classes will take place in the morning and evening in our beautiful studio, afternoons are a time for relaxation, swimming in the pool, reading,  or sleeping in the shade on one of our lovely terraces that surround the house . A beautiful week dedicated to you, a week of self care and relaxation. A time to let go of the pressure and stress of this fast paced  life and take time to re-connect with your self in a calm and nurturing environment. Early morning teas & fruit, a late morning brunch, afternoon herbal teas and cake and dinner will all be served all fresco (weather permitting)

 BEAUTIFUL PLACES TO VISIT

All of our Yoga and Meditation practises will take place in the morning from 8.00am to 1.00pm.  The afternoons are a personal time to relax, read, swim or explore the local area. 

If you would like to get out and about there is plenty to see and do.

The towns of Aubettere, Brantome and Boudeilles are all within a 25 minute drive from the house. Market days, festivals, wine tasting and good food are all available.  The local vineyards of Bergerac and its chateaux's are a delight to visit. Canoeing on the Dronne river is inexpensive and a truly lovely way to spend an idyllic afternoon, though be prepared to get very wet!
